Latest Immunologist Visit plus health update, exercise, diet and other stuff
Hello once again. Sorry I've been so silent. I've been doing many, many things plus working on the weight issue once again. I'm taking things day by day as much as I can, not because I have to but because it's a good way to progress towards goals i.e. step by step.
Health-wise I can safely say that I'm the fittest I've been since prior to diagnosis when I was riding my bike 10km every morning. I took a look at how much weight I've gained and have started (again) to take it off steadily. So far I have shaved off about 7kg in four weeks which isn't too bad. I'm enjoying myself too which is the main thing!! Coupled with that I've started running..yes...running on the treadmill that we have here that WAS gathering dust. I've pushed myself hard and have pushed too far on a couple of occasions but I'm totally aghast at what I've been able to do with the right attitude and the soothing tunes of Motorhead in my ears as I train :-) My GP is keeping track of my exercise and weight loss too so I have added incentive.
My business is going in the right direction too. Not booming yet and we're not quite ready for world domination but we'll be prepared when it does happen!
My 'real' job has been extremely busy as well with a few days late last year going through until 4am the next morning. Going home, showering, then going to work the next day was not fun and I recommend it only to the young and WG-free :-)
Speaking of age. I turned the big four-oh in October. 40 years on this planet. Wow. Time flies when you're having fun, especially since I wasn't expected to make it past March 2003! Many, many things to be thankful for, even the bad stuff. Weird yes, but many Weggies will agree.
Christmas was excellent. In fact it was the first Christmas I've come close to enjoying in nearly 20 years. Excellent not for the presents but for the atmosphere and family which is the most important thing.
No major health issues since the last update though. A couple of colds/flu probably but nothing dramatic. I continue to be humbled by how much I've been blessed with pretty much normal health (assisted by medication) after going through what I went through.
Oh...yes....I went to see my Immunologist on Friday. I had mislaid my blood test form that he gave me last time so I had to get a new one that morning. Needless to say, the tests weren't through but I checked out ok and my BP was 147/70 which for me is excellent. He did note that my ANCA had come down in my previous blood tests from the time before which had seemed to indicate a flare however I hadn't felt 'out of sorts' at all.
Hmmmm....I don't think there's anything more to cover. I'm doing well and hope to be the same or better next time :-) I'll also TRY and update this thing more than once every blue moon. Try.
Stay groovy.
